"Fancy That" Progress

Yesterday was rainy in the morning, and as much as we needed the rain, I was just as much ready for a nice day...It's been cold and windy down here lately.

The weather has finally taken a turn during the morning and, It turned out to be very nice outside, low 80s with a slight breeze and, the birds chirping...I ended up spending all afternoon outside working on the center block of Fancy That. I was able to finish hand sewing the fans on the center block.

Have you ever work with Michael Miller's Cotton Couture Solids?

This is what I am using as background in this project, in the picture, you can almost feel the softness of it...

These solids by Michael Miller feel lighter in weight and, have a very soft touch and a luxurious feeling, I can't almost keep my hands off...The colors are so soft and rich. They are wonderful to work with.

Goodnight Irene Sew-Along

I am doing Goodnight Irene Sew-Along hosted by Terry at Terry's Treasures and, I must say I had a difficult time to kick it off. I wasn't sure about the background color, this is my second attempt. I did also struggle with the seams but, I got that one under control...:)
Here is how it looks so far...

Anyway, that's enough, I am going to leave it alone for now and, just walk away...I will see how I feel about it tommorrow.:)

Happy quilting everyone!

2014 Finish Along Goals Q-1

I'm in for the Finish Along Q-1, This is a first for me, first is good, right? What a terrific motivation it is to bring all these projects to full completion...I think I was able to make a reasonable list, and I hope I can finish all these on time before the finishes linky party ends on April 6th

Here is my list;

1)Finish Vintage Holiday Quilt. The top is done and in line at the quilt shop to be quilted. The binding is ready to be sewn.

2)Finish Scrappy Trip Around The World. The top is done and also in line at the quilt shop to be quilted.

3-Finish Jiggery Pokery quilt. The top is done and has been put aside for way to long. This one should have been at the top of the list actually.

4)Marcelle medallion, I started to audition fabrics for the center part, worked on other projects, and it's been on the wall for a few weeks now. I can't wait to attack this one.

5- Bring to completion Fancy That. I am almost done sewing the strips together and cutting the wedges, just a few more to go.

Hope to see all these projects done by the beginning of April. Good luck everyone with your finishes!

Scrappy Trip Around The World - Update

Scrappy Trip Around The World quilt top is finished and, it has been hanging over the railing for a few days now...I kind of like it there...It's nice to be able to glance at it when sitting in the living room. Even my husband like it there...I took it down yesterday to take a picture and, I put it back up there right away, it was like something was missing already...Maybe it would be a good place to display some of my quilts in the future...

Mmmmm I like this one a lot!

Now the scary part...I need to chose a quilting design and a thread color...
I am thinking of something feathery...

Ohh! and I need to take it to the quilt shop to get in line for the quilting...

On my working table

Before 2013 ends, I was trying to bring to a finish a couple of projects I have been working on lately, the Vintage Christmas Quilt top is made and hangs on the rack at The Quilt Shop waiting there to be quilted. I should have taken more pictures along the way...definitely something I need to work on in the future...I will make sure I post a picture as soon as it's done.

I don't do the quilting on my quilts, all my quilts are quilted on a long arm machine at the quilt shop. A couple reasons for this; Until now I was making mostly big quilts and I can just imagine how tough it would be to do on a small machine...just sewing the binding on a big quilt is a task!

There are a few projects I am currently working on, here is a Scrappy Trip Around The WorldIt started as a project to use my scraps from a previous quilt I made with Denyse Schmidt's Chicopee collection...
I ended up making a few trips to the fabric store to get just a little bit more fabrics.;)
Am I the only one to do this?

Comming together...

Here, I divided each block's strips in piles and moved them around until I was pleased with the result, just trying to distribute the colors subtly...Then I moved them to the design wall. This way I get a good idea of what it will look like when complete. I had to move around a few blocks again. It's been sitting on the wall like this since yesterday. And now, looking at the picture, I see a couple blocks that kind of stands out, but it might just be okay with this type of quilt.

I am really enjoying making this quilt, it is a lot of fun.

Scrappy Hexagon Quilt

Here is another project I want to share with you. It is what I like to call
''my on the go project''. I started this a couple years ago, this is the project I take with me where ever I go, everything I need fits in a plastic bin.

And the third project on my table these days is the Marcelle Medallion Quilt and here is a peek at the center block I start to put together.

Besides the green fabrics (that need to be changed), I am pretty happy the way it looks so far. My stash lacks in green fabrics so I had to order more green fabrics...Waiting for the greens...

Feel free to leave any comments if you feel like it. I am always interested on what people have to say, or just stop by and say Hello!
