2016 - Finish Along Q1

Here is my proposal finish list (in no particular order) for the next quarter:

 1. Scrappy Hexagon Quilt
This is my oldest UFO; I started this quilt back in 2007-2008. The piecing is almost done, and I am looking at fabrics for the border. EEP has come a long way since then. :-)

2. Christmas Double Wedding Ring.
A version of Victoria F Wolfe beautiful Christmas quilt "Remembering Christmas Past" from her book "Double Wedding Rings - Traditions Made Modern."
I started this quilt last summer, and it has been progressing very slowly,
I am hoping to finish this one this next quarter.

3. Grandmother's Fan
I started this one last spring; I had a good start, but it was then put aside ... I would be nice to finish this one as well.

4. AMH Nine Patch
A rolled over from the last  quarters.

5. AMH Dresden Plate
On the back burner ... Still trying to decide if I should replace that yellow square in the middle.

As you can see, I have some sewing to do ...

  3. Hi Maryse! Don't change the yellow! I'm not even fan of yellow but I think on your gorgeus dresden plate quilt it is perfect. I think it is the 'sun' that makes the eyes/look (how this should be said in English?) stop. Your nine patch and hexagon quilts inspire me also very much! x Teje

  6. This will be my first blog site, my first FAL, and appropriately, will include all "start" vs. "in progress" projects (did ALOT of finishing for xmas gifts). Although... Does doing the sandwich/quilting/binding count?? I have two quilt tops ready for finish. Maybe I'll add those? Appreciate the coaching when I post my list. Now to figure out how to create a "link" ....

  9. I always love a visit to your blog, Maryse. Happy color, cheerful, and honest. I happen to like the yellow in the center, and think it ties in those yellow blades throughout the fans. If it was me, I'd start the quilting with that one!

  11. You have so many great quilts here Maryse - I adore them all! The double Wedding Ring is so different from the same old/ same old. I love the yellow in the dresden plate quilt too. It gives it an added Pop of excitement. :)

  14. Love your wedding ring quilt and my vote - leave the yellow alone! I just bought the loominous bundle largely because of what you did here with your dresden plates!

  15. Don't take out the yellow on the Dresden plate quilt. Let it pop. It works =) Good luck with the finish along.

  17. Lovely project, Maryse -- which will get to be the first? My personal rule when something is nagging at me like that yellow block is that "it's not right" and I need to fix it. I like the yellow and am thinking what may be bothering you is the strong contrast of it against the surrounding blocks rather than the actual color. Is it too late to move it to another position in the quilt where it won't pop out so strongly?

  22. Just like the first time I saw the Dresden Plate quilt, I didn't "see" the yellow until you mentioned it. I think it makes your eye travel around the quilt which is such a good thing.
